USDA Economic Research Service (Amber Waves, May 2024): despite the war, Ukraine's MY 2023/24 production outpaced domestic consumption and the nation remained a top-10 global supplier of grains, sunflower seed, and sunflower seed products; exports did NOT collapse to insignificance, though they stayed below pre-2022 peaks. Directly contradicts the criterion that 2022 was Ukraine's final year as a significant agricultural exporter.
CSIS, 'Setting the Record Straight on Ukraine's Grain Exports': USDA estimate of Ukraine's MY 2023/24 grain and oilseed exports = 63.77 million metric tons, only ~2 MMT below BOTH MY 2021/22 and MY 2022/23. Ukraine continued large-scale exporting through 2023 rather than ceasing to be a significant exporter.
European Commission / Council of the EU figures (reported 2023): in 2023 Ukraine still accounted for ~10% of the global wheat market, ~15% of corn, ~13% of barley, and ~35-50% of global sunflower oil/meal trade, and was the EU's 2nd-largest external grain supplier — i.e., still a significant world agricultural exporter in 2023.
